I’m taking part in an Instagram challenge! Titled 100 Days of Singing, this challenge was created by my local musician friend Aisha (of Swansea-based folk/acoustic band Aisha and the Astronauts). It’s inspired by 100 Happy Days which is currently super popular on Instagram. Every day for the next 100 days I’ll be posting a 15-second video of myself singing (mostly I’ll be playing my piano too). Follow me on Instagram to see the videos! I’ll also be sharing the links on Twitter for my non-Instagram friends.
Here are the first two videos!
I often feel nervous about putting myself out there, making myself big and loud rather than hiding away. I figured this would be a great challenge to get me out of my comfort zone, as well as giving me a concrete music-themed challenge to work on every day. I also feel nervous about having something so raw and incomplete out in the public eye, but as feminist writer Clementine Morrigan put it:
“being a work in progress, in public, is a revolutionary act in a society that only values finished products“.
I think this challenge will be good for me. If anyone else wants to join in, please do! Use the hashtag #100daysofsinging so I can see/like/share your work 🙂
