BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: I’m recording an album!!
The 12-track album, due to be released in autumn 2022, will feature Mishkin Fitzgerald, Hana Piranha, Anna Mylee, and Gary Mitchell from dark orchestral rock band Birdeatsbaby , and Brian Viglione from The Dresden Dolls!
I’m so fucking excited to be working with such incredible musicians to create my debut album – Birdeatsbaby and The Dresden Dolls are both among my musical influences, and The Dresden Dolls were one of the bands that inspired me to teach myself how to play the piano when I was 17 years old. Having Brian drum on my debut album feels serendipitous, like everything has come full circle.
I’m recording it in The Nest Studios in Brighton, and it’s going to be an all-out, full-band, dark alternative LP with rock, prog and cabaret influences. I’ll also be releasing some singles and music videos over the coming months, and going on a UK tour to promote it next spring/summer.
Those who’ve followed me for a while will know that I’ve been making music for a few years, but have always been hampered by self-doubt and anxiety issues. Cheesy as it sounds, lockdown gave me the space to reflect on what I wanted from life, and I concluded that it was time to commit to music – no matter how scary and precarious that feels as a chosen path. I knew I would regret listening to fear, instead of the quiet voice that whispers “what if everything works out?” (I wrote about it on my blog here).
I’ve been quietly writing this album for the last 3 years, and slowly moving the pieces into place ready for the next phase of my life. After years of self-doubt, anxiety, and fear, I finally feel like I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing – I’m excited about my future, and I can’t wait to see what it holds for me. This album is going to be confessional, introspective, blistering, a bit outlandish, and 100% me. I love it. I hope you will too.
