Punks 4 Mental Health presents Swansea’s alternative Big Weekend!

Swansea and South Wales is and always has been a hub of creativity, bringing us literary and musical legends throughout modern history and beyond!

We found it sad, then, how when BBC Radio 1 announced their “Big Weekend” at Singleton Park, their spotlight wouldn’t be shining anywhere near the host of musical talent the city and surrounding area has to offer!

So, as a counter-event, we have commandeered Creature Sound for the weekend of 25th-27th May, where we will be showcasing some of the area’s hottest alternative bands!

Taking place over three days/nights, the event will be split in to 4 themed sections:

– Friday 25th May – Heavy Night (Metal/Thrash/Doom/etc)

– Saturday afternoon – Next Generation Matinee (aimed at the youth of our city, this section will be child friendly, with a mellower edge to the live acts (acoustic/pop-punk/etc) and other entertainment (face painting/fun activities/etc)

– Saturday Night – Punk Night (Post-grunge/Punk/Alternative/Indie)

– Sunday night – (Various genres)

Tickets for the event will be a flat rate of £4.50 and will be available from Derricks and Creature Sound closer to the event (one £4.50 ticket will entitle you to entry for the whole weekend, so if you come to one night or all the events, you just pay the one rate, once!).

All profits will go to Matt’s Cafe, High Street, Swansea

Attendees are asked to bring food or practical donations to help the homeless members of the community who depend on Matt’s Cafe and its services.
