I’m currently home in Wales for the next 3 weeks on operation: dissertation.  So far, I’m two thirds of the way through, so not too bad really.  I haven’t been up to much – my time has been spent doing work, reading, visiting family, drinking too much coffee, watching Spaced, and playing my parents’ piano.  Life is good.  I’m pretty happy right now.

I got my lip pierced on Monday!

It hurts to smile.

It hurt like hell, and is still aching now, but it was totally worth it.  I got it done at Blue Banana, so she just jabbed the needle through my lip without anaesthetic (you need a license to administer anaesthetic apparently… surely it’s more dangerous to shove a metal bar through one’s skin than it is to rub a little numbing cream onto their skin?).  Once it’s healed, I’d like to get a ring put in.

This week I also got my fancy typewriter! I paid £2.99 for it – ask and eBay will provide!  I spent the weekend sitting outside typing letters and drinking lemonade – such a lovely way to spend my first weekend home.

Zine Update:
1. Some of my zines are being stocked at the London College of Communication library, which is rather exciting.  For more info about the LCC, take a look at their website: http://www.lcc.arts.ac.uk/.

2. I’ll be attending a number of zine fests this year, including London Zine SymposiumNottingham Zine Fair, Ladyfest Essex, and Birmingham Zine Fest; I’ll be tabling at the latter two events!  If you see me, come say hi!

3. My split-zine with Tukru was reviewed by Amber, go take a look and comment here.

4. I’m currently working on Here. In My Head. #8, which is due to be published in the next 3 weeks or so, and trying to get some submissions in for the spring edition of Artemis.

Music Update: my dear friend Steff is redesigning my website soon.  Also, I’ve been featured on a blog called Jukebox Heroines, where I’m featured in a playlist of women who “carry the torch for Grrrls of the 21st Century”!  Check it out here: http://jukeboxheroines.wordpress.com/2011/04/04/where-have-all-the-grrrls-gone/
